[1] Top Management Committee:
→ Top Management Committee includes the CEO and other members of top management.→ They set a vision for Six Sigma implementation.
→ Top management establishes business objectives.
→ Create an environment that helps an employee to achieve goals.
→ Hire a team of Master BB & BBs, with other necessary members.
→ They plan and actively participate in this project.
→ Work with MBB to identify the organization's clear objective or SMART Goal.
→ Set the goal of the organization
[2] Champion or Sponsor:
→ A champion takes responsibility for Six Sigma implementation across the organization.→ They use DMAIC methodology in projects for improving existing processes, products or systems.
→ A sponsor helps the organization to develop the Six Sigma culture in an organization.
→ They play a very important role.
→ They define the project and set the scope.
→ Provide support to develop the training material for the team members.
→ Champion is expected to interact with project teams on a regular basis to participate in problem-solving, decision-making, and resource-allocating activities.
→ Focus only on data-driven management and decision.
→ Solve the difficulties of the project and help to maintain the smooth flow.
→ They are responsible for ensuring results improve the bottom line of the organization.
[3] Process Owner:
→ The process owner is an expert in his or her process domain.→ They are responsible for the entire process and the improvement activities related to their processes.
→ Process owners work with the MBB or BB to improve the processes.
→ He or she implements the solution of the problem with the help of Black Belts and other team members.
[4] Master Black Belts (MBB):
→ Master BBs are identified by champions, act as in-house coaches of the team.→ They assist champions and also take responsibility for the development of the skills in the organization, for Black Belts, Green Belts, and the other employees.
→ MBB translates goals into a strategy.
→ Communicate with Top Management Committee and Champion.
→ MBB confirms and validates the cost-saving during the project.
→ They gather all data related to the project and analyze the same
→ Achieve the target as defined.
→ Maintain all activity in the document.
→ MBB helps to set the culture of Six Sigma from the shop floor to office-level employees.
→ BB with strong leadership and problem-solving skills can go to become a Master BB.
→ Master BB gives training to Black Belts & Green Belts.
→ The Master BB has the ultimate responsibility to ensure the Quality, value, and sustainability of projects under their guidance.
[5] Black Belts (BB):
→ Black Belt generally operates under Master BB in projects.→ BB’s are full-time/part-time project leaders and mentors of the team.
→ They create a friendly environment in which all team members can openly discuss facts and figures without any fear.
→ They provide guidance and training to Green Belts and other members.
→ BB’s are responsible for the process improvements in the organization.
→ They ensure that the Six Sigma methods are followed in the organization and also maintain this practice continue.
→ Spread awareness about six sigma in the organization and Leads problem-solving projects.
→ They also train other members.
→ BB goes to execute projects, monitor results and manage a team.
→ As compared to the GB holder, a BB holder has a high level of understanding of Six Sigma principles, systems, tools & techniques.
[6]Green Belts (GB):
→ Green Belt holder works on an ad-hoc basis.→ They implement six sigma with other job responsibilities.
→ They operate under the guidance of Black Belts.
→ The GB’s are part-time leaders.
→ They are responsible for defining the scope, leading the team, calling for help when needed, and ensuring sustainable results.
→ They lead and execute the project as part of their regular job.
→ Regular follow up with the team member to ensure the assigned tasks are completed on time.
→ Green Belt holder usually work on projects within their own functional area.
→ They should schedule regular meetings with their mentor or coach to review the progress of ongoing activities.
→ Green Belt holders lead small projects in their work area and assist Black Belts in finding process gaps.
[7] Yellow Belt (YB):
→ A Yellow Belt holder has a basic understanding of Six Sigma.→ They are responsible to support the team in creating process maps.
→ YB participates as a core member or subject matter expert (SME).
→ They are responsible for driving smaller process improvement projects using Top Lean tools like 5S Methodology, PDCA Cycle, or Kaizen - Continuous Improvement.
→ They are very important for the success of the project.
→ Yellow Belt holder has a good knowledge of the product and the process.
→ YB's are active in data collection and actively participate in improvement activity.
